I have high regard for everything this organization is trying to do. However, I do have a complaint/concern. I receive a fund raising call today from Jim P. Of course, I have no way of knowing if Jim really represents UNOA or if he is a scammer trying to get my credit card. I said I would donate something although it is a tough time to donate at the moment, but I asked Jim if I could send a check in and asked for the address. Jim said he needed to know the amount to he could send me a receipt. I explained that I did not need him to send me a receipt until after he received my check. That was not acceptable to Jim and he refused to give me an address and said goodbye and hung up. I suspect Jim, if not a scammer, is a good guy. However, his approach really made me wonder if the call was legitimate. I write this not out of anger toward Jim or the organization, but just to suggest a little different approach, especially in this era of scammers.
