In researching to find out what the LOR Foundation does, on the surface about the most prevalent item a Google search will turn up is how transparent they are about their financial statements. Upon digging deeper, over the past four to five years this company has been exemplary in holding true to their business model of working to preserve public spaces while enhancing the livability in the Intermountain West.
One constructive criticism I have for their public relations department is their website is vacant of the number of significant community contributions they should be boasting about. One example in specific, the website could highlight how the LOR Foundation in cooperation with the Idaho Pedestrian & Bicycle Alliance (as well as other organizations) worked extensively to overcome what was to be a defunded public works program that would have reduced the available bicycle and walk paths leading to downtown in order to accommodate for larger lanes of automobile traffic to flow.

The LOR Foundation is an organization I hadn't been aware of until earlier this year. Through my research I learned that they support and are a part of the Intermountain West Funder Network. The IMWFN is a network of grant makers which comprises of several organizations that catalyze action among funders to help pool resources together for when future community projects are being planned for. Learning that the LOR foundation is part of the IMWFN was essential to understanding that philanthropy is at the core of how the LOR Foundation seeks to enhance livability within the region.
An example of how they have made contributions which benefited Wyoming is the half-million dollar grant they awarded in 2013 to help support the Seeley Lake Community Foundation for the first stage of the Seeley Lake sewer system. This grant helped the town which was in need of major infrastructure improvements.
There is such much more to the LOR Foundation that I hope moving forward in to 2015 that more public awareness can be done to help shed light on this essential organization Wyoming is lucky enough to have. Thanks Hal Hutchinson and to your staff for all that you've done which has benefited Wyomingl.
