I am a retired elevator mechanic trying to establish a viable robotics program on the windward side. For 2-3 years I worked with a teacher at Castle High School and generated very little interest.
Two years ago someone suggested approaching the Minami foundation instead of self funding my efforts.
The funds they granted allowed me to purchase enough kits to enter three different competition platforms. We entered over 10 competitions with a composite team made up of students from King Intermediate, Heeia, Puohala, Nuuanu, Maunawili, elementary schools as well as students from Castle High school.
The support Minami Foundation granted me has allowed me to give students exposure to subjects not taught in the classroom. It is my hope that OUR efforts reach future engineers, and discover the hidden talent in our schools.
